My Point of View

Last Night I viewed "An Inconvenient Truth". Didn't think that a slide show would hold my attention but this one did. Al Gore has done a masterful job in showing us how far along on the wrong side of preservation we are. This society that we live in, has to do better in protecting ourselves from the damage that we unwittingly to our planet. I never gave any thought to Recycling but now it is one of the things that I am personally committing to learning about and practicing. We also have to demand more of our elected officials. They enable the large corporations to litter and pollute our planet in the name of profit. I have example that is as close as my front door. There is all around my neighborhood, a large number of new houses and businesses being built, in the process of doing that, large areas of trees are cleared away and with that, wildlife as well. What few have thought about is that by clearing out all of the trees and pouring all that concrete, when it rains, the water has no where to go, causing flash floods through out most of the city. There was a valuable lesson to be learned from tropical storm Allison, though no one seemed to grasp that lesson. My advice to everyone is to see "An Inconvenient Truth" and educate yourself on how you can do your part to make a change. Our children's lives depend on it. I also want to tell everybody about Current TV. It is television programed by the viewers. Viewers make the video's that air on the network. It's the new way to connect the global village. A Word From The Publisher

Welcome to my site. I am happy to have an opportunity to share through this creative outlet. I have decided to kind of make this blog a sort of guy's guy forum, kinda like Maxim or FHM, which would explain the pictures of the ladies in the sidebar. There is a tech section, sports section, a news section, and a section for Keith Olbermann, more about Keith in a moment. I wanted to entertain but at the same time raise awareness about serious issues about our society around us. I'm sure that most would agree that it seems that this world is going to hell in a hand basket. We have to start to protect ourselves by paying attention to the issues and carefully choosing whom we would like to represent us in government. It is imperative that those whom we choose understand that theirs is not a position of power but a position to lead by following the will of the people. A people who wish to prosper and live in peace, not be oppressed and broken by a failed economic plan, a war that cannot be won, and corruption of our governing body by lobbyist and corporate entities. Down below is a video by Keith Olbermann. Watch it if you've got the time. You really can't afford not to. It speaks of the Military commission law, which does away with Habeas Corpus. We all will soon become victims of a government led by a man with near absolute power. Houston eyes cameras at apartment complexes

HOUSTON -- Houston's police chief on Wednesday proposed placing surveillance cameras in apartment complexes, downtown streets, shopping malls and even private homes to fight crime during a shortage of police officers.

"I know a lot of people are concerned about Big Brother, but my response to that is, if you are not doing anything wrong, why should you worry about it?" Chief Harold Hurtt told reporters Wednesday at a regular briefing.

Houston is facing a severe police shortage because of too many retirements and too few recruits, and the city has absorbed 150,000 hurricane evacuees who are filling apartment complexes in crime-ridden neighborhoods. The City Council is considering a public safety tax to pay for more officers.

Building permits should require malls and large apartment complexes to install surveillance cameras, Hurtt said. And if a homeowner requires repeated police response, it is reasonable to require camera surveillance of the property, he said.

Scott Henson, director of the American Civil Liberties Union's Police Accountability Project in Texas, called Hurtt's building-permit proposal "radical and extreme" and said it may violate the Fourth Amendment's protections against unreasonable searches.

Andy Teas with the Houston Apartment Association said that although some would consider cameras an invasion of privacy, "I think a lot of people would appreciate the thought of extra eyes looking out for them."

Such cameras are costly, Houston Mayor Bill White said, "but on the other hand we spend an awful lot for patrol presence." He called the chief's proposal a "brainstorm" rather than a decision.

The program would require City Council approval.
